Women in science: Tools for a better work environment

The International Federation of Pharmacists offers a set of recommendations with which to promote the environment of positive practices of the female group involved in the pharmaceutical areaWomen make up the majority of the health and care workforce, yet they are still underrepresented in both science and technology and education.Likewise, with regard to professional progression, in these fields of work there are significant differences between genders that do not allow women to progress correctly.For example, there is evidence that they publish fewer articles."We see that women make an extraordinary contribution to global health, but they still don't receive the same reward as men in terms of salary, leadership or career progression," said Catherine Duggan, executive director of the International Federation of Pharmacists (FIP acronym). in English).For this reason, the FIP has published a set of recommendations with which to improve the working environment for women involved in pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy.Developed by a FIPWiSE Working Group (FIP Women in Science and Education) and with the collaboration of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA), this initiative aims to offer tools to generate and maintain encouraging work environments.These indicators, their authors explain, can be implemented both by professionals, legislators or by the companies themselves.And, with them, also raise awareness about the importance of positive practice environments for women in science and education.Divided into five categories, the authors speak of five key factors that support these positive practice environments:This website is for the exclusive use of health professionals (doctors, nurses, pharmacists) involved in the prescription or dispensing of medicines, as well as professionals in the pharmaceutical industry and health policy.
